UPDATE: Fatal Big-Rig Crash on I-280

One person died in the crash; two southbound lanes are closed.

Update as of 12:50 p.m.: CHP Officer Scott Cakebread said there was one other vehicle involved.

Two lanes of southbound Interstate Highway 280 in Cupertino are closed this afternoon because of a fatal big-rig truck crash that occurred late this morning, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

The crash was reported on southbound I-280 near the South Wolfe Road off-ramp at 11:04 a.m. A Sig-alert was issued at 11:29 a.m., CHP Officer Scott Cakebread said.

The truck reportedly flipped on its side and at least one person was killed, according to the CHP.

There is no estimate yet for when the lanes will reopen, and the CHP is advising drivers to find alternate routes.
