Sonar images taken earlier this week of Chesbro and Uvas reservoirs are being reviewed by special police underwater search and rescue units, which are looking for any suspicious items related to missing teen .
The sonar will “detect objects below surface levels of the reservoirs,” Santa Clara County Sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. Jose Cardoza said in a statement.
Any objects deemed suspicious will be looked at more closely by divers in the department’s underwater search and rescue team.
Chesbro and Uvas reservoirs are the closest reservoirs to ’s mother’s home in Morgan Hill.
Later this week, deputies on dirt bikes will canvass remote areas in South County to search for clues or evidence in the disappearance of the 15-year-old Sobrato High School girl who was last seen March 16 when she left for school.
ATVs were used in a search on March 31 when deputies scoured the South County Coyote Creek Trail (Cochrane Road in Morgan Hill to Bernal Road in San Jose) for evidence.
Local and federal investigators have been combing the area for evidence aided by scores of volunteers and support groups such as KlaasKids Foundation, which has organized multiple searches including one that began at 8 a.m. Wednesday.
