Sheriff's Arrests: Child Abuse, DUIs

A look at the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office's arrest and booking reports for June 28-30, 2012. The following arrest information does not indicate a conviction.

Child Abuse

Albert Waissman, 49, of Cupertino, June 28, 12:30 a.m., at 22013 Baxley Court in Cupertino, for felony inflicting corporal injury upon a child.

DUI

  • John Armendariz, 31, of San Jose, June 28, 2:30 a.m., at Campbell Avenue and San Tomas Expressway in Campbell, for misdemeanor driving with a blood alcohol level of 0.08 or higher and driving under the influence. Bail set at $5,000.
  • Mauricio Medrano, 19, of Los Altos, June 28, 2:53 a.m., at northbound Highway 280 and Wolfe Road in Cupertino, for misdemeanor driving with a blood alcohol level of 0.08 or higher and driving under the influence. Bail set at $5,000.
  • Jeffrey Cornwell, 41, of Cupertino, June 29, 2:01 a.m., at Valley Green and De Anza Boulevard in Cupertino, for misdemeanor driving with a blood alcohol level of 0.08 or higher and driving under the influence. Bail set at $5,000.
  • Jacob Ortega, 21, of San Martin, June 29, 11:25 a.m., at the South County Courthouse in Morgan Hill, for driving with a blood alcohol level of 0.08 or higher and driving under the influence, driving in violation of a license revocation and driving under the influence. Bail set at $50,000.
  • Raul Raudales, 28, of Manteca, June 29, 10 a.m., at the South County Courthouse in Morgan Hill, for driving with a blood alcohol level of 0.08 or higher.
  • Pranav Sudesh, 19, of Cupertino, June 30, 12:10 a.m., at McClellan and West Acres in Cupertino, for misdemeanor driving with a blood alcohol level of 0.08 or higher and driving under the influence. Bail set at $5,000.

Vehicle Code Violations

  • Danilo Coquia, 56, of Campbell, June 29, 4 p.m., at the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office, 55 W. Younger Ave. in San Jose, for driving with privileges suspended or revoked.
  • Ramon Vazquez, 48, of Mountain View, June 29, 2 p.m., at the Santa Clara County Superior Court in Palo Alto Department 88, 270 Grant Ave., for misdemeanor giving false name to peace officer, suspended license and felony duty to stop at scene of injury accident.

Possession

  • Robert Vaca, 33, of Gilroy, June 28, 3 a.m., at Oak Glen and Willow Springs in Morgan Hill, for felony possession of a controlled substance and violator for revocation of postrelease supervision agreement.
  • Alex Garcia, 19, of Gilroy, June 29, 12:40 a.m., at Highway 152 and Twin Oaks in Gilroy, for vandamism $50,000 or less, battery and felony possession of marijuana/hash for sale and give/sell/transport 28.5 grams of marijuana. Bail set at $40,000.
  • David Dimas, 22, of Gilroy, June 29, 11:40 a.m., at the Santa Clara County Superior Court, 115 Terraine St. in San Jose, for three misdemeanors related to  using/being under the influence of a controlled substance, vandalism less than $400.
  • Cecillia Perez, 41, of Campbell, June 29, 7:45 p.m., at Dobern and Jackson in San Jose, for misdemeanor using/being under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance/paraphernalia and felony violator for revocation of postrelease supervision agreement.

Possession/DV

Rick Mendoza, 40, of Los Gatos, June 28, 11:15 p.m., at 20610 Aldercroft Heights in Los Gatos, for misdemeanor unlawful possession of paraphernalia and felony cultivation of marijuana and inflicting corporal injury on spouse/cohabitant. Bail set at $25,000.

Assault/Illegal Weapon

Alvaro Sanchez, 24, of Morgan Hill, June 28, 2:40 p.m., at Whitehurst and Highway 152 in Gilroy, for felony possession of marijuana/hash for sale, cultivation of marijuana, misdemeanor resisting, delaying, obstructing a peace officer and felony possession of firearms while in possession of narcotis and assault with firearm upon a peace officer. Bail set at $500,000.

Obstruction of Justice

Jason Hewell, 26, of Gilroy, June 28, 12 p.m., at 8095 Solis Rancho in Gilroy, for misdemeanor resisting, delaying, obstructing a peace officer. Bail set at $1,000.

Fraud

Juana Anaya, 48, of Gilroy, June 28, 7:50 p.m., at 150 W. Hedding St. in San Jose, for felony presenting false or fraudulent insurance. Bail set at $10,000.

Appropriation of Lost Property

Argelia Salinas, 55, of Gilroy, June 29, 10:10 a.m., at 200 W. Hedding St. in San Jose, for misdemeanor appropriation of lost property.

Under the Influence

Julio Sanchez, 26, of San Jose, June 30, 12:20 a.m., at 7850 Pole Line in Gilroy, for misdemeanor being under the influence of alcohol, drugs, controlled substance. Bail set at $250.

I too was at this Challenge Day. It was my 6th. I first volunteered because I watched the programRead More on MTV "If You Really Knew Me" when my son was being severely bullied in middle school and saw the program was offered when he was a freshman in high school. My company strongly supports me volunteering for this and allows me to take the day off work to attend. I am continually humbled by what these teens share and saddened at what some of them have experienced in their short lives. This program is so valuable. I think every school should offer it and every parent should attend. It helps us to realize that we need to think twice before we judge or assume things about others when we know nothing about them. It is the volunteering opportunity that I look forward to participating in every year.
