Police have released a sketch of a man who grabbed a 13-year-old girl and pulled her into a driveway as she was walking in San Jose last Friday morning.
The girl was walking on the sidewalk near the intersection of East St. James and North 33rd streets around 6:10 a.m. when the man approached and dragged her into a residential driveway, police said today.
Police said the girl screamed and struggled with the man, who then released her.
"She fought back valiantly and was able to get away," police Officer Albert Morales said.
The suspect was last seen running east on East St. James Street toward North King Road.
He is described as a Hispanic man between 25 and 35 years old who is about 5 feet 10 inches tall with a thin to medium build, black hair, brown eyes and a mustache.
The man spoke English and was wearing a dark blue hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled over his head, blue Dickies pants and brown work shoes with white paint, according to police.
The case is considered a kidnapping because the suspect forcibly moved the girl from one place to another, police said.
"It looks like this is one of the cases where we're going to need the public's help," Morales said.
