A man who died Sunday after his motorcycle skipped off the road near San Jose and crashed into a tree during a ride with other bike enthusiasts has been identified as Timothy Wong, 27, of Sunnyvale, according to the Santa Clara County coroner's office.
The accident, reported at 10:45 a.m. Sunday on state Highway 130 east of Miguelita Road in unincorporated Santa Clara County east of San Jose, is under investigation by California Highway Patrol.
Wong was headed east on state Highway 130 on his 2009 Kawasaki motorcycle when he tried unsuccessfully to steer through a curve in the road, the CHP said.
He drove off the northern side of the road and collided with a tree trunk, the CHP reported.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, the CHP said.
According to a blog for owners of Kawasaki's Ninja model motorcycle, ninjette.org, Wong on Sunday was headed for the top of Mt. Hamilton on the way to Livermore with others who own Ninja model bikes when the accident occurred.
