Sunnyvale Man Killed in Hwy. 87 Crash
Brett Wayne Wofford, 54, died Wednesday afternoon after his truck hit the guardrail, ricocheted into the center divide and overturned.
A man killed in a one-car crash on state Highway 87 in San Jose on Wednesday afternoon has been identified by the Santa Clara County medical examiner's office as Sunnyvale resident Brett Wayne Wofford.
Wofford, 54, was traveling within the speed limit in the No. 2 lane on northbound Highway 87, just south of West Taylor Street, when he lost control of his white Nissan truck, California Highway Patrol spokesman Officer DJ Sarabia said.
The truck darted to the right and hit the guardrail before ricocheting to the center divider and overturning, Sarabia said.

The crash was reported at 1:49 p.m. Wofford was wearing his seatbelt and driving alone at the time of the crash, Sarabia said.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, Sarabia said. No other vehicles were involved. There was no indication that Wofford was under influence of alcohol, Sarabia said.
