Under-Aged Suspect in San Jose Crime Spree to be Charged As Adult

The second suspect in the San Jose crime spree is being charged as an adult, according to a release by the San Jose Police Department.

Fifteen-year-old Adonis Muldrow was arrested on Nov. 24 by the San Jose Police Department's Covert Response Unit, with assistance from the Concord Police Department in Concord. 

On Nov. 16, the 22-year-old and 15-year-old were involved in four armed robberies and a failed carjacking attempt that left a 22-year-old Rory Park-Pettiford to die in his car.

The first suspect, San Jose resident Jonathan Wilbanks, 26, was arrested the same day but Muldrow fled the scene.

The crime spree starting with a Little Caesars Pizza in the 2800 block of Story Road at 7:25 p.m on Nov. 16.

They then allegedly robbed a gas station in the 1000 block of E. Capitol Expressway at 7:40 p.m., a Jack on the Box in the 600 block of Curtner Avenue at 8:43 p.m., and a spa in the 1400 block of Bird Avenue at 8:58 p.m.

Minutes later, the suspects allegedly shot San Jose resident Rory Park-Pettiford, 22, while carjacking him in the parking lot of a 7-Eleven store in the 400 block of South Kiely Boulevard. Park-Pettiford died at the scene.

The crime spree escalated further when the pair ran into police around 9:13 p.m. near U.S. Highway 101 and Interstate Highway 280, where officers had seen the vehicle.

The vehicle fled and police pursued until the vehicle stopped at a red light at Tully Road and Lanai Avenue and the suspects got out and allegedly opened fire on the officers.

The Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office filed charges against Muldrow Tuesday, the police report said. He is currently in custody.
