Woman Struck by Car in Sunnyvale

A Mountain View woman was hit by a car Thursday evening, and later died.

A woman was fatally struck by a car in Sunnyvale on Thursday evening, authorities said today.

The pedestrian, identified by the Santa Clara County medical examiner's office as Mountain View resident Erica Stiles, 47, was struck at about 5:10 p.m. near the intersection of El Camino Real and Mathilda Avenue.

Emergency personnel found Stiles suffering from major head trauma and took her to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, where she succumbed to her injuries, according to the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety.

The driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene and cooperated with authorities.

The crash remains under investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed it is requested to call Investigator R. Ramirez at 408-730-7109.
