A couple dozen supporters led by the Cupertino Chamber of Commerce gathered today in front of Coffee Society at the Cupertino Library about 30 minutes before the City Council meeting to encourage the council to approve a new lease.

Coffee Society has been operating without a lease in its library location, and a bid process was opened in the summer. A Jan. 4 council meeting during which the council did not approve the lease as was expected resulted in public outcry.

Chamber president Paula Davis spoke on behalf of the chamber—Coffee Society is not a member—and others in the audience.

The council broke at about 3:15 p.m. for a private session, during which the Coffee Society lease will be discussed.
