Evan Low Newest VTA Board Member

Low will represent West Valley cities including Cupertino.

Evan Low, Campbell's vice mayor is the area’s newest VTA board member representing Cupertino and other cities.

Low was sworn in at the VTA's Jan. 5 meeting and will serve as alternate board member to Vice Chair Joe Pirzynski as representative for City Group 3, which includes West Valley cities Cupertino, Campbell, Monte Sereno, Saratoga and Los Gatos.

"I am honored to serve in this capacity as an alternate board member for the Valley Transportation Authority,” Low said in a release. “Public transportation is essential and I look forward to helping make public transportation more effective ..."

Low, who was first elected into Campbell City Council in 2006 was named vice mayor at the Dec. 6 Campbell City Council meeting and also works as a senior district representative for State Assemblymember Paul Fong (D-Cupertino).

"I'd like to focus on making public transit much more efficient," Low said on facebook. "Especially coming back from visiting other countries where public transit is part of the daily life."

Campbell opened up its newest public transportation stop at the Winchester Light Rail station in 2005 and is part of an overall plan to build an additional 1.57 mile extension to the Vasona Junction in Los Gatos, Low said in the statement.

VTA meetings are held on the first Thursday of every month at 70 West Hedding St., San Jose.

It's difficult to know what's going on in a kid's mind unless they feel confident enough to open upRead More and talk. And this program helps us adults to learn to listen differently.

I too was at this Challenge Day. It was my 6th. I first volunteered because I watched the programRead More on MTV "If You Really Knew Me" when my son was being severely bullied in middle school and saw the program was offered when he was a freshman in high school. My company strongly supports me volunteering for this and allows me to take the day off work to attend. I am continually humbled by what these teens share and saddened at what some of them have experienced in their short lives. This program is so valuable. I think every school should offer it and every parent should attend. It helps us to realize that we need to think twice before we judge or assume things about others when we know nothing about them. It is the volunteering opportunity that I look forward to participating in every year.
