State Sen. Joe Simitian has served the last 12 years in the State Legislature. His last day as a Senator is Friday.

Here's an audio file of his reflections, as interviewed by Carl Guardino.

Simitian was elected to the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors in June, representing the 5th District, so he will continue to represent north county residents, this time in matters closer to home.

Simitian is known for holding "sidewalk hours" in the communities he served as well as his annual "There Oughta be a Law" contest that resulted in 18 entries signed into law since 2001.
