Trained Dogs will be Hired to Chase Pooping Geese in Cupertino Parks

Discussions will continue, but the first step is to try using dogs while exploring other remedies.

Here’s the scoop on the goose poop issue that was up for discussion at Tuesday’s City Council meeting—trained dogs will be hired to chase away the geese.

More details on the topic and other matters discussed at the meeting will be available on Patch later.

“Bottom line is we will try trained dogs first and evaluate lasers and fines for feeding the geese,” said Councilmember Orrin Mahoney.

"A majority were in agreement on adopting the plan of the city staff, which generally follows the US Humane Society program," added Councilmember Rod Sinks.

Timm Borden, Cupertino’s director of public works, will return to the Dec. 18 council meeting to present proposals with dollar amounts attached.
