Students and staff at Fremont High School in Sunnyvale were ordered to shelter in place this afternoon after someone made a bomb threat, according to the Fremont Union High School District.
The shelter-in-place order was issued around 1:30 p.m. after someone called the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety saying there was a bomb at the high school, located at 589 W Fremont Ave., academic superintendent Kate Jamentz said.
At 2:55 p.m., city officials said officers were conducting a precautionary search of the high school.
Police have since completed a K-9 search of the campus and were allowing students to be dismissed as usual at 3:15 p.m., Jamentz said.
Parents were allowed to come pick up students. She said parents had been notified of the police activity through an emergency notification system.
After-school activities at the campus have been canceled, Jamentz said.
