New Superintendent Announced for Cupertino Schools

Cupertino Union School District appointed Wendy Gudalewicz to the district's top post.

Cupertino Union School District announced this week the appointment of Dr. Wendy Gudalewicz as its new superintendent.

Gudalewicz—who will replace the retiring —was the chief academic officer at New Haven Unified School District since 2009. She also held the post of area superintendent for Oakland Unified School District, and was school site administrator at several school districts in Santa Clara County. In all she has 23 years experience in the education field.

“Dr. Gudalewicz showed herself to be an outstanding candidate who the Board of Education feels will be a strategic visionary, an open communicator, and a collaborative leader,” said Phyllis Vogel, Cupertino Union School District board president.

Among Gudalewicz’s honors are the 2011 Curriculum and Instruction Administrator of the Year for the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) Region 6. She holds a doctorate in Educational Leadership from Saint Mary’s College.

Gudalewicz starts her new job on July 1, the day after last day.
