Saratoga High Intel Science Contest Winner Alissa Zhang Continues to Shine

Student showcases her invention at Innovation Showcase at State Capitol Wednesday.

Saratoga High School student Alissa Zhang, a top-10 nationwide winner of the prestigious 2012 Intel Science Talent Search contest, was among 26 high school students from across California who on Wednesday showcased their original research projects on the south steps of the State Capitol.

The students met with state legislators and other top officials to illustrate the important role science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) programs play in the innovation economy, said Intel spokesman Mark Pettinger.

Alissa, 17, earned Intel recognition for a project that sought alternatives to finger-pricking for tests that monitor diabetes patients.
