Novice Player Wins Teen Jenga Contest at Cupertino Library

The building game held on Family Game Day was toppled with blocks of fun.

If you build it, or allow them to build it, they will come to the Teen Jenga Building Contest at the Cupertino Library.

And a total of 82 participants did come to the Family Game Day event held on Nov. 21.

“The winner of the Teen Jenga Building Contest was Shreyas Radhakvishna who built a 31 story Jenga tower in the last round of competition. This was Shreyas’s first time playing the game,” says Teen Librarian Matt Lorenzo.

Jenga is a game played with wood blocks that get stacked one on top of another and when the building blocks are all used up players pull blocks from lower tiers and place them on top. If the player can successfully pull free a block without the tower toppling then place the block on top, again without knocking over any part of the tower, that’s a successful round and another story higher. (Watch the attached video for a quick glimpse at the game.)

The event also included “delicious baked goods” made by the Lynbrook High School Chef Club, Lorenzo says.
