Drink Up: It's for Charity

If you've been meaning to make a donation to the Japan relief effort, take advantage of a fun event tonight at Vintage Wine Merchants at Santana Row.

A sip of champagne tonight is all it will take to put money in the pockets of the American Red Cross, courtesy of Vintage Wine Bar at Santana Row.

Inspired by Prince Harry of Wales and his trek to the North Pole with a group of wounded soldiers and their charity group, Walking With The Wounded, Harry Fong, owner of Vintage Wine Bar and Vintage Wine Merchants, decided to copy the other Harry.

At the conclusion of the Prince’s trek, the group is expected to pop open a giant bottle—a six-liter bottle called a Methuselah—of a special edition of Pol Roger champagne.

Vintage will open a smaller version—a three-liter called a Jerobaum—of Pol Roger champagne tonight.

Glasses of the bubbly cost $15, all of which will be donated to the Japan relief efforts of the American Red Cross.

Additionally, 25 percent of the gross sales at the wine bar and 10 percent of gross sales at the wine store will be donated to Japan relief.

Other shops at Santana Row are participating in the 10 percent donation, too.
