Cupertino's Cheery Cherry Blossom Festival
More than an outdoor festival, the annual Cherry Blossom Festival is a cultural exchange.
The annual is a celebration of Cupertino's relationship with Toyokawa, it's Sister City. The 200 cherry trees that were a gift from Toyokawa, Japan, in 1983, and are planted in Memorial Park, stand as a testament to the long-standing relationship between the two cities.
Patch videographer, Ken Guanga, worked with Patch reporter, Anne Gelhaus to bring you a sampling of the weekend's activities. Watch the video and you'll see some of the arts and crafts, food booths, flower arrangements, miniature horses, and if you went, you might even catch a glimpse of yourself.
Though the city of Toyokawa was spared great damage following the earthquake and tsunami, the Cupertino-Toyokawa Sister City program put on hold its student delegate program due to safety concerns. An on-going effort, the Japan Relief Fund, is sending funds to help in the national relief and recovery.
