Cupertino Fireworks 2013: What You Need to Know

The city's website and recreation has been a fount of information about its Fourth of July pancake breakfast and parade. Ditto for the afternoon barbeque and swim at Blackberry Farm.

Fireworks? Well, that's elusive when but hopefully not for long.

Fireworks are a "go" this year, in all the usual places. The fireworks show starts at 9:30 p.m.

Cupertino High School will again be the site of the fireworks pyrotechnics team, but they're the only ones allowed there. Cupertino High School, and surrounding streets will be closed 6 p.m. to 12 midnight.

The public is invited to view at three venues, 6:45 to 10 p.m.:

Creekside Park - 10455 Miller Avenue
Sedgewick Elementary School - 19200 Phil Ln  
Hyde Middle School - 19325 Bollinger Road

Musical entertainment and games at those three sites begin at 6:45 p.m. Residents are encouraged to bring a picnic and enjoy the pre-fireworks activities. 

The following streets near Cupertino High School will be closed from 6 p.m. to midnight:

  • All of Finch Avenue
  • Calle de Barcelona between Miller Avenue and Finch Avenue
  • Tilson Avenue between Finch Avenue and Tantau Avenue
  • Phil Lane between Miller Avenue and Tantau Avenue
  • Stendahl Lane between Shady Grove Drive and Phil Lane

The area will be aggressively patrolled. Vehicles in those areas during the specified times will be towed, the city said.
